DONATE TO HELP PURCHASE A SERVICE DOG FOR Elijah Lazarus

Donated By:

Description: We are working to raise funds to train a service dog for three-year-old Elijah Allen of Brooklin. He has cerebral palsy, auditory and sensory processing disorder and has left hemianopsia (left field blindness).

A service dog will help prevent him from running into things on his blind side, provide mobility support on uneven ground, prevent him from bolting in busy places, keep him safely within the boundaries of our home, be trained to search & rescue in the event of him wandering away, apply deep pressure to help with sensory processing and anxiety. The dog is 4 1/2 months old. She is an English Golden Retriever and was specifically bred to be a service animal. She has begun her training and will continue with local trainer, Whitney Thurston, of Salty Dogs Obedience & Adventure in Blue Hill. When she reaches a certain point she will need to go to Pennsylvania to finish her training with Paws Training Center, and the estimated cost for this is $14,000. I have been making and selling donuts as an ongoing weekly fundraiser which so far has paid for the local training and other costs related to having a service dog. More information can be found on a Facebook page that was created for Elijah when he was 5 weeks old. The name of the page is “Prayers for Elijah Lazarus”
