Writing Update

posted Nov 19, 2016, 5:51 AM by Rebecca Tapley
Students continued work on NaNoWriMo this week, which has passed the half-way mark. As a group, we talked about planning out our fiction stories, and then students went right to work on this. Different options are available in planning out scenes, and students chose the method that fit them best. We continued with poetry, reading "This Place" by Eloise Greenfield.

A highlight of our week was joining together in Writers Group with published author, Ellen Booraem. This week, students bravely shared their first scene from their fiction writing and their peers gave both positive feedback and constructive critique. Ellen shared her valuable insights for the stories students are creating. It was an impressive first run by the 6th grade students and a delight to see the 7th grade students get back in the groove of Writers Group.
