Social Studies Update

It's been a busy week in social studies leading up to Election Day. Our 4-5th graders have a lot of questions. They want to know more than just the personalities of the candidates, they are eager to learn about and discuss the complexities of the political process. They already have a sense of the need to sift through everything they see and hear and use critical thinking skills to form their own opinions. They've also been learning how to engage in civil discourse around emotionally charged subjects, such as elections and candidate preferences. We are also getting ready to wrap up our Library of Alexandria history projects. Keep an eye on the website for news about the spectacular finish we have planned.
