4th and 5th grade mathematicians dove into division this week. 5th grade students were able to get back in the groove, practicing what they learned last year. Especially after listening to "Long Division Style", the skills came back strong. 4th grade students worked on making sure there was a clear understanding of what is happening in long division by making "Division Quilts." The area of the rectangle represents the dividend, the size of the individual rectangles represents the divisor, and the number of rectangles and any empty squares allows one to discover the quotient.
